On Track with The Sherlocks
The Sherlocks are an indie band from Barnsley in South Yorkshire. Their playlist is made up of songs they were listening to while recording their upcoming album.
"I’ve picked these songs because they were all records we were playing at the time of making our third album ‘World I Understand’. Every night we would stay up drinking while 5/6 o’clock in the morning, sometimes even later. We’d be playing Led Zeppelin or to the other extreme songs like Voodoo Ray… it was different every night. Then in the morning I’d stick tunes on like Infinite Sun by Kula Shaker whilst having a coffee before walking down to the studio. We honestly had a blast down there and the music we we were playing in between recording probably had a big influence to the sound of our new record unintentionally!" - Brandon Crook (drums)
The Sherlocks' third album ‘World I Understand’ is out now.
"I found this recording process to be the best time I’ve ever had in a studio. We didn’t stop laughing from start to finish of making the album, we were on the beers every night while 5/6 o’clock in the weeks we were there. I literally mean every single night! It was a bit mad to be honest, we were drinking more than I ever have in the studio but it didn’t matter because the work was getting done. We’d wake up every morning and just get to work straight away, we really didn’t mess around when we were in the studio. The work always came first and the parties after… and I think because the songs were sounding that good and we were making that much progress in the session, that’s probably why the our spirits were so high!"
